Here's the thing. It's not about investing more time or taking on more tools, tactics or platforms. I know, I know, that probably goes against what everyone else is saying. When I speak to authors, they either blame themselves - "I just can't make it work for me like it does for everyone else!" - or they blame the tools - "Facebook lies. It said it could reach X million people but it just took my money and nothing happened!"


These authors are wrong on both counts. It's not them being ineffective, and it's not the platform not performing as promised.


The truth is, if you're only dabbling and not committing to a plan of action, or if you're using the wrong tool at the wrong time, it won't work how you want it to. It doesn't matter how much time, money or energy you throw at it.


Instead, you need to take a step back, make a plan and see it through. When you have a simple, repeatable system in place, you can spend LESS time marketing, and get BETTER results. In other words, sell more books with less effort and less stress.

Everyone tells you that an email list is essential, but how do you attract subscribers, how big does your list really need to be and what should you be emailing - and how often? I’ll show you how to grow a list in a way that feels good to you, and that people are excited to sign up for and less likely to unsubscribe from. Plus, I'll help you devise an email marketing strategy that you can fit into your routine and that actually engages subscribers and leads to more book sales, so you can finally see the value of having a list and enjoy communicating with your subscribers.

As you start to attract readers and grow your email list, it’s time to deepen and nurture the relationship. You will start to develop a content strategy that will allow your readers and subscribers to get to know, like and trust you, which is especially important when you’re between books. Whether you prefer to blog, podcast or YouTube, or utilize social media, I will help you find the right content platform for you and develop an effective content strategy that feels good and that you can stick to - you don't need to be everywhere, using every tool!

By the end of this step you will have:

  • Developed a content marketing plan

Engage

You’re growing your readership, now what? Your loyal readers will be there to support your success as an author - providing feedback and ideas, becoming beta readers, supporting your book launches, writing reviews and sharing about your books on social media, but they will probably need encouragement to do these things. I will teach you how to communicate with your community the right way, to encourage engagement and support from day one, so all the effort you put into building your platform pays off.

By the end of this step you will have:

  • Learned what to ask of your readers, as well as when and how to do it
  • Discovered the importance of calls to action, what they look like and where to use them
  • Found a way to nurture a community of loyal readers that supports you as an author

Review

With your target reader in mind, we will review your online presence - your website, social profiles and Amazon listing - to ensure they attract and appeal to your ideal reader. We’ll also make sure your Amazon listing is conversion-focused, meaning that when people land on your book page, they're more likely to click the buy button. Together we’ll make sure it’s all dialed in, so you can sell more books with less effort.

By the end of this step you will have:

  • Optimized your Amazon listings so your books are more likely to be found and bought
  • Optimized your author website so that it appeals to your ideal readers and works to sell books
  • Established a clear, consistent and recognizable author brand

Sell

Having done everything up to this point, your books should already be selling like hot cakes (or cold cakes, all cake is good, right?!). The whole point of growing your reader community is to be able to sell more books, but too often authors forget or are too afraid to ask for the sale. It’s important to know how and when to sell to your readers. They don’t want to be sold to, and you don’t want to come across as pushy. But you know they would love your book and it would be a disservice not to tell them about it. When you know the right way to sell to your audience, it will be a win-win for you AND your readers.

By the end of this step you will have:

  • Learned how and when to send sales emails
  • Discovered how to make use of promotional tools and price discounts to boost sales
  • Established a reliable sales funnel for your books

Here's how it all works

  • 6 months' support, including 2 x 60-minute 1:1 coaching calls per month.
  • You will also have unlimited email access to me between our calls to ask questions or request feedback.
  • Platform: Zoom, live video sessions, from the comfort of your own home.
  • Coaching sessions will be recorded and shared with you privately for you to refer back to.
  • You will be able to book your coaching sessions for a time that's convenient for you via my online calendar.
